What led Susan Apollon to write "Touched By The Extraordinary?" How did she get involved with "supernatural" phenomena such as communication across time and space, encounters with deceased loved ones, and the meaning of near-death experiences?
These compelling interests developed in part through her practice—she has worked for nearly 20 years as a psychotherapist, psychologist, and healer, treating children and adults who are traumatized, diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses, dealing with death and dying, and those who are grieving. Many of her patients reported on their own extraordinary encounters: with angels, with children or spouses who had died, even with dolphins (to name a few examples). Susan soon realized that accepting these not-so-unusual phenomena was often a part of her patients' path to healing. This was brought home to Susan especially clearly when she began working with widows of those killed in the September 11 attacks.
Also, Susan herself has had a number of "extraordinary" encounters, including an ongoing relationship with her spirit guide, White Eagle/White Feather, and a deeply meaningful encounter with her deceased mother-in-law.
Accepting the growing power of her own intuition, and at the same time immersing herself in the latest scientific research on paranormal phenomena, Susan expanded Jung's "collective unconscious" to develop the concept of the "nonlocal mind": an entity that crosses boundaries of time and space, of life and death, and of "human" and "other."
In her book, "Touched By The Extraordinary," Susan explores these many different currents. The book combines the deeply personal stories of extraordinary encounters she has collected both from her patients and her own experience with simple, clear examinations of the research—and what it all means for ordinary, everyday people who can tap into the spiritual wisdom, hope, and thanksgiving of that greater consciousness.
In her practice, she brings to her patients a gentle blend of warmth, compassion and wisdom gained not only from surviving her own illnesses and losses, but also from growing spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually while experiencing life to the fullest. Susan also works with contented people who still seek even greater peace, joy and balance in their everyday lives.
Coming from a family of physicians (father, aunts and uncles, and daughter Rebecca), Susan’s intent is to heal—emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually, but also at the level of the soul—and always with love and compassion.
Focusing on the many blessings each of us has, she guides those seeking inner peace to the recognition that we are here to live life in joy and peace (to be happy) and that each of us already possess the resources to accomplish this little miracle.
As a speaker/presenter, Susan’s expertise and training as a wife, mom, teacher, psychologist, researcher and student of energy, mind, consciousness—and her own intuitive development—leads to her unique ability to relate with people, to create a feeling of instant connection and understanding.
Susan embraces the belief that, "Intention is everything—and when love, clear intent, choice, transformation, healing, and very often, spiritual awakening become our reality, everything feels wonderful."
Among Susan's most treasured blessings are her husband, two children and family, as well time spent re-connecting with friends, playing the piano and basking in the music of life. She has been in private practice in Yardley, PA since 1991 and is the author of "Touched By The Extraordinary."
